I is for Immunisation

Immunisation is an important element of your child's healthcare. During the first five years your child will be offered a number of vaccinations to protect them against various dangerous diseases including measles, polio, mumps and some strains of meningitis. As they contain tiny traces of the germs they are protecting against, they may cause a slight fever or a small lump on the skin. No vaccination is totally risk free, but side-effects are generally mild and short-lived and should be balanced against the protection from serious diseases. If you have any questions about vaccinations, talk to your GP or Health Visitor. For further information on immunisations see childhealth.co.uk.

Ibuprofen was first discovered in the 1960s and so has been in use for over 40 years successfully relieving pain. It can also help to reduce fever after immunisation. Ibuprofen, used in Nurofen for Children gets to work in fifteen minutes and lasts for up to 8 hours - which is up to 2 hours longer than paracetamol. Speak to your nurse or GP. Always read the label.
